St. Joseph getting refinished

Even though major construction work hasn't began yet, the R & R committee is still making many strides in beautifying Holy Trinity. One way is refinishing and repainting this statue of St. Joseph. Here it is being loaded up to be taken to contractor Kevin Autenrieb's work shop. As you can see, the statue is chipped and faded and in much need of repair. Once refinished, St. Joseph will be placed in one of the new alcoves.

A few of the other improvements the R & R committee is looking to make while waiting on the interior work to commence is chipping away the old paint, applying a fresh coat and washing the exterior windows. Volunteers are also being sought to help Travis Norville sand down the Stations of the Cross. If anyone is interested in donating their time for these work days, please contact Nancy Mateer at 259-3117.

Latest R & R changes

As many of the parishioners have already noticed, the interior of Holy Trinity is beginning to see a few subtle changes! The alcoves have now been re-opened and are awaiting the placement of the St. Mary statue in the left alcove and the St. Joseph statue in the right alcove. Both of the statues are being refinished and repainted by Kevin Autenrieb currently. Also, 2 presider chairs have been generously donated by the Roethemeyer family. The chairs, which have already been set up on the altar, are made out of Honey Oak with a nice blue cushion. The R & R committee is very grateful for the donation!

R & R at auction on Saturday morning

The rain didn't keep the members of the R & R committee inside last Saturday morning, May 15. They were out in full swing at the estate auction of Theresa Duni in Stonington trying to raise some more money for our project. They got to work selling donuts, coffee, hot dogs, barbeque, chips, sweets and drinks to patrons. The committee thanks everyone who donated the yummy deserts for the sale. Leftovers were sold Sunday morning after church and they went fast!

Cards for Sale!

Greetings, bloggers! The R & R committee has been hard at work the last couple of weeks and has began some very promising fundraising campaigns! One of them is centered around our beautiful stained glass windows at Holy Trinity Church. For $20 each, anybody can purchase a box of 18 cards that have a picture of a stained glass window on the front cover, blank inside, and an explanation about the meaning of the window image on the back of the card as told by Sam Fortner. Every stained glass window in the church is included in the box of 18. The cards are absolutely beautiful and very convenient. They make wonderful gifts to friends and family. Any person interested in purchasing a box of these cards may do so through Bev Henn. She will be selling them after church every Sunday. However, if you cannot make it to mass, you can reach Bev through email at holytrinity@consolidated.net and she will be glad to get you a box...or 2 or 3 or 10!

St. Patty's Day Dinner/Party!

For anyone who wasn't able to make it to the St. Patrick's Day Dinner/Party on March 13, you missed out! The R & R committee put on a wonderful evening packed with corned beef and cabbage, "green" themed deserts, green beer, and live Irish music and dance as performed by Fr. Marty and Sister Anne! The evening was an even bigger success than expected and the R & R committee thanks everyone who made out for an evening of all-things-Irish! Sister Anne even put on an impromptu Irish dance lesson and Father Marty then sang an old Irish song!
