Our Lady of Fatima Statue coming to Holy Trinity-Plan to attend!

Holy Trinity has the honor of hosting the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 7:00 pm inside the church.
The viewing will begin with a 25 minute presentation followed by questions and answers and a quiet time for veneration until 9 p.m. Please plan to attend this holy and unique event at Holy Trinity. This statue has been all over the world giving hope and healing to thousands of people for decades. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity!
The world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin
Statue of our Lady of Fatima was sculpted in 1947 by Jose Thedim, based on the description of Sr. Lucia, one of the three young children who saw Our Lady each month in 1917 from May to October in Fatima, Portugal. The Blessed Mother revealed to the children many truths which pertained to the salvation of souls. Pope Pius XII said, "In 1946, we crowned Our Lady of Fatima as Queen of the World; and the next year, through her Pilgrim statue, She set forth as though to claim Her domnion; and the favors she performs along the way are such that we can hardly believe we are seeing with our eyes."

Worthwhile tv movie...for once :)

I thought some parishioners might be interested in the following information:

Below is a link about the 1960s movie actress, Dolores Hart, who left a promising career to become a Benedictine nun. HBO filmed a documentary about her and it was nominated for an Academy award this year. Mother Dolores attended the Hollywood event (the film did not win in its category).

The documentary is scheduled to air on HBO on Thursday, April 5 (Holy Thursday) at 7 p.m. (Central Time).

Fish Fry!

The 8th annual Holy Trinity Fish Fry was a success again this year. The dinner made over $800 for the Maitenance Fund and served up over 200 meals. Approximately 125 pounds of fish was fried up for the event and lines started forming at 4:45 p.m. for the 5 - 7 serving time.

People came from all over the area to feast on the fish. Attendees included people from Taylorville, Morrisonville, Palmer and Decatur.

Holy Trinity thanks everyone for all the help and for supporting our First Friday Fish Fry!!

Fish Fry!

The Enlow and Mizuer family enjoy the fish fry surrounded by family on Friday, February 24.

The Peabody family got their places at a table early at the Fish Fry. Serving was from 5 - 7 pm, but lines started forming at 4:45 for the famous feast put on by Holy Trinity.

The 8th annual fish fry was happy to enjoy a steady stream of hungry customers for the 2 hours of serving.

Carol DeClerck, Nancy Mateer and Carolou Mormon help serve up fish, coleslaw and beans while parishioners and village residents move down the serving line.

Almost 200 meals were served at the fish fry, including 45 carry out requests.

40 Bags in 40 Days

Still don't know what your Lenten resolution is going to be? The ladies of the Altar and Rosary Society have a good idea. They are encouraging the act of "40 bags in 40 days." It's a simple practice that anyone can do and is a rewarding Lenten sacrifice. This simple idea is a committment to rid your house, car, garage, etc. of items you don't need and place all the things in a bag to either give away to charity or dispose of. The 40 bags can be small or large, depending on your needs. Some items that you could think about 'bagging' are: cloths, shoes, books, toys, candles, canned goods, blankets, and coats. This is a great way to get rid of all the excess in your life. Lent is a time to celebrate the only true gift in your life, the gift of God's love.

Valentine's Day Boxes

The ladies of the Altar and Rosary Society will be
preparing Valentine's Day boxes on Wednesday, February 8 at 6 p.m. in the hall. These boxes will be for shut-ins, nursing home residents, college students and those in the military. If you would like to add someone to the 'recipient list' please do so on the lists at the back of the church. However, you must be present during the preparing of the boxes or have made other arrangements to have someone pick up and deliver the boxes to your recipient. Each person requesting a box is responsible for their recipient's box.

There is another list at the back of the church for people willing to donate 'goodies' for the boxes. Ideas and suggestions for goodies are on the sheet. If you would like to donate, please have your goodies at the hall by 6:00 pm on February 8. Contact Sheryl Coady, 825-5247, if you have any questions.
